A ceremony honoring the promotion of Michigan Army National Guard Soldier, Pablo Estrada to the rank of brigadier general was held Saturday, April 9, 2016, at the Detroit Light Guard Armory in Detroit, Mich. Estrada is currently the Land Component Commander for the Michigan Army National Guard.
During the ceremony Estrada, a native of Clint, Texas, was promoted by Brig. Gen. Michael White, commander of the 46th Military Police Command. Estrada’s new rank insignia was applied to his uniform by his son Christopher and daughter Natalie. Estrada’s wife of twenty-one years, Roberta and his brother David placed the one-star shoulder boards on his uniform jacket.
Estrada assumed the duties of the Land Component Commander in March 2016. Prior to that, he served as the 46th MP Command chief of staff.

Estrada served as the brigade command mentor to the Armed Forces of Liberia in Liberia, Africa from January 2012 to March 2014. His next assignment was the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Officer in Charge of the 46th MP Command while they were assigned the federal mission to serve as command and control for a chemical, biological, nuclear and radiological response unit. This unit was the only one of its type in the National Guard and was prepared to provide guidance and direction to a task force of more than 5,000 service members in response to a catastrophic incident in the United States.
Estrada was commissioned a field artillery second lieutenant in 1988. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. He holds a Master of Science degree in Management from Kettering University in Flint.

Estrada has worked as a maintenance manager and manufacturing engineer for Delphi Automotive, and a project engineer on the Stryker vehicle for General Dynamics. He is currently a maintenance area manager for Fiat Chrysler Automobile.
Estrada’s military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Good Conduct Medal.
Estrada and his family reside in Troy.
